Another amazing thing about these video sharing websites that they tend to rank highly in Google — this is especially true with YouTube. If you are trying to reach the top of the search engines for your keywords, there is no better way to do it than uploading your videos to multiple video streaming websites.

There are hundred of video sharing websites. Here are just a few you may consider using:

Just by spending a little time searching for keywords you will see how well these sites rank videos in the results pages for those keywords. Clearly, you can see how useful these video websites can be. All you need to do is create a short video (usually under 10 minutes) and upload it. This is completely free and you get tons of benefits as a result.

Now let’s put all of this together.

Step 5: Upload your images.

Once you have signed up and signed in, click the “Get Started” button. You will be taken to a page where you can upload your images. If they are stored on your computer as suggested in Part 1, just navigate to that folder, hold down your shift key and select all of the images to be uploaded. I have uploaded 21 images for my example video.

If you have already added text to your images you can proceed to step 7.

Step 6: At this point, you can use Animoto’s text feature to add text between your images. Just click on the “add text” button at the bottom of the screen, drag the “T” where you want the text to go and fill in your text to the right of the images. You can add as much text as you want.

When you are finished adding your text, click “Continue”.

Step 7: Add a soundtrack. You can select a soundtrack from Animoto or upload one of your own. I generally prefer a soundtrack that is instrumental only, but choose what ever you like that fits your marketing message. You can hear a sample of each soundtrack and go back and edit it at any time.

Step 8: Finally, add a title and description to your video and hit “Create”. This will take a few minutes to render depending on how many images you uploaded and how much text you added.

Here is a video I created using Animoto’s text feature.

If you don’t like how the first project turned out or you just want to see a different version you can remix it. You can change the order of the images and text or change the soundtrack until you get a version you like.

What will you do with this video now?

You can upload it directly to YouTube from Animoto. This is a convenient feature and really helps you get up and running fast. I also recommend that you download your video so that you can upload it to other video sharing sites.

1. Upload your images
2. Add some text descriptions
3. Select your music track
4. Create your video

I’m going to walk you through the process in a little more detail so that your videos really represent what you want them to. You will see a completed video at the end of this article.

First you need to gather some images. This will be the “hardest” part.

Step 1: Gather some images that apply to your niche. For example, if I was promoting a dog training product or website I would gather images of dogs sitting, rolling over, happy people with happy dogs, etc. I may even include an image of the website logo or ecover of the product.

If you don’t already have these images on your computer then do a search on free image sharing sites like Flickr for royalty free images you can use. Clipart images work well for this purpose too. If you have a hard time finding enough good images for your video then you may have to resort to purchasing professional images from places like iStock Photo. It may cost you a few bucks but the images you can find there are outstanding.

Be sure you save all images in .jpg or .gif format.

Note: Animoto has three account options — Free, All-Access-Pass and Business. If you want to just try things out first then go for the free option. You can make an unlimited number of 30 second videos. If you like the service and plan on making a lot of videos then, by all means, go for the All-Access-Pass. Then you can make an unlimited number of videos of any length you want. The Business version isn’t necessary to do what we want to do here. Click the image below to sign up and get a $5 discount.

With the free version you will need 12 – 20 images. With the paid version you can have as many as you want, but I usually stick with 30 – 40. The final length of the video will depend on how much text you decide to add and how many images you use.

Step 2: Organize your images in the order in which you want them to appear. I find that creating a new folder on my desktop and saving the images with a number (01.jpg, 02.jpg, 03.jpg) in that folder helps me organize them easier.

Step 3: Write a script for your video. Use the copywriting principle of AIDA to come up with a few sentences that will draw your viewer in and get them to click on your link to the website or product you are promoting. You want to grab their Attention, Keep their Interest, Build the Desire for them to visit your site then give them an Action to take by visiting. Here is an example:

“Does your dog have trouble behaving?” “Put an end to the stress and embarrasement of your dog’s behavior problems!” “. . . And slash you dog obedience training time in half. . . ” “by using techniques that give you immediate results!” “Go to TrainYourDogWell.com for my secret dog training tips.”

If your video will be longer than 30 seconds then you will need a longer script than that, but you get the idea. You can even use a few sentences or bullet points from the sales page of the product to get you going.

Step 4: Add text to your images. You have two option for adding text to your video in Animoto. First, you can add text directly to your images using any graphics program you have access to. Windows users should have Paint installed on their computer. Or you can download a free graphics editing program like Paint.net or Gimp. With these programs you just need to open each image that you want to add text to and type. You can format the text in any way that looks appealing to you, just don’t use a font that is hard to read. Make the text centered on the image and use a font size of 16 to 20 so the text shows up well in the final product.

There are virtually hundreds of video sharing sites that permit you to upload and host your videos on their servers. Even so, you will probably not want to post them on every video sharing site you find. Quality is the key, as this will ensure that your video marketing campaign is a success. There’s no question that YouTube is the most popular video site on the Internet and it will gain you the most exposure. But there are other popular sites that offer benefits like sharing profits from advertising. You also want to take into consideration the PR (page rank) of the site as this will provide your website where your links are pointing to “link juice” from the video sharing site. Your goal should be to find about 20 good sites to upload your videos to. This should provide maximum benefit with minimal time expenditure.

Another important aspect of your video marketing campaign is using the correct keywords. By posting your videos, along with your chosen keyword text links, in your video description box you will soon be experiencing a nice flow of never-ending traffic to your site.

It’s true. Uploading videos to YouTube certainly has many benefits, but the best strategy is to upload your videos to multiple sites. Unfortunately, this can become quite time consuming, especially if you have to do this frequently with many videos.

The good news is that there are some services that can help you automate this whole process.

HeySpread

HeySpread is my favorite video distribution tool. It is web based, and also cheap. I can submit my video to 17 sites for about a buck, and there is no minimum purchase!

You simply create a free account, load some money (you can pay through paypal), and start submitting. You only have to upload your video once, and they will then take care of spreading it to the other sites. This allows me to knock out videos pretty quickly. They also keep track of the submissions, and even email you a list of all the url’s where your videos are located after they are live.

Traffic Geyser

Traffic Geyser is similar to HeySpread, but a bit more advanced. The downside is that it is also pricey (currently $97 a month . . . but you can try it free for 30 days by using the link above). The good news is that they also provide you with a lot of in-depth training and resources to make videos. You also get access to a forum where you can chat with other video marketers. It’s pretty cool if you have the money and are serious about video marketing (planning on submitting dozens of videos a month).

Video Post Robot

Video Post Robot is a software application that runs off your computer. It submits your video to the top video sites. The big advantage here is that you only pay a one time fee (currently $297) for lifetime access or you can opt for the $19.95 monthly plan. They have a 7-day trial for $1 so you can check it out.

Let’s go through the process of submitting a video. I am going to pick YouTube since it is currently the most popular video site.

The first thing you need to do is create a user account at YouTube. Don’t worry, its free. I would suggest creating a separate email that you use just for your video submissions. This will help keeping track of things a lot easier. A Gmail account is ideal for something like this.

You can signup for a YouTube account here.

Once your account has been activated, just log in and click on the “upload” button to start the submission process. You can also go directly to this url:

http://www.youtube.com/my_videos_upload

The first thing you need to do is come up with a title. This is really important so make sure you give it some thought. You want to make sure that your title is interesting (so people click on it to watch the video) and also reflects the keywords that you are optimizing for.

Next you need to put in a description of the video. It is important to start each description with the URL you are promoting. Many viewers will not click the “more” link to view you entire description so placing you URL at the very beginning will ensure that it is visible to all viewers and encourage some click-throughs. Make it look like this: http://makeavideo.net

Please note how the http:// is at the beginning so it makes the link clickable. It is absolutely vital that you do this, because this is how you get that all important back link to your site (plus
hopefully some visitors will click on it as well). Fill out the rest of the description by describing what the video is about, and try to make it as interesting as possible.

Next you will choose whatever category is most appropriate for the topic of your video. If you are submitting multiple videos for the same site, you may want to pick a different category for each video, to vary where your links are coming from. If your videos are a series similar to this one, then you may want to stick with the same category.

The last option to fill out are the tags. This is where you will put the keywords that the video is optimized for, along with a few other relevant keywords.

You can leave everything else on default settings and then hit “upload a video”. Find the video file on your computer. It may take a few minutes depending on the size of your video. Now your video will be live on YouTube and you’re done!

If you aren’t doing proper keyword research before you submit your videos, you are taking a stab in the dark at your video becoming popular. Just writing on your niche isn’t enough, you need to be spending time researching and discovering the best keywords to target.

The basic premise of keyword research involves finding keywords that have:

1. A reasonable amount of searches per day/month

2. A reasonably low amount of competition on the internet for that specific phrase.

There are a many free online keyword tools you can use. Google’s Keyword tool is one of the best:

You basically want to avoid these two problems:

1. Keywords with too much competition (you would not be able to rank high enough)

2. Keywords with too little search volume (you may rank high, but still get very little traffic)

The keyword tool will help you find keywords in that “sweet spot”, where they are receiving a fair amount of hits per day, and there is little competition. Just how much competition should you aim for?

Camtasia is a fantastic, user friendly video screen capture program that many online marketers use all of the time. In fact, it is how all of the videos in this series were made! If you don’t own Camtasia, you can download a copy with a fully-functional free 30 day trial. This should be more than enough time to play around with it and create a few videos of your own:
